As her new album Rare climbs its way up the charts, Selena Gomez is hanging out in the spotlight and providing even more beauty inspiration than usual. While her holographic manicure from last week was a glittery, futuristic delight, she now seems to be looking to the past for beauty inspiration — specifically, the '60s.
On Monday, January 13, Sel went on The Tonight Show looking as if she could have come straight off the set of I Dream of Jeannie. Stylist Marissa Marino pulled half of Gomez's hair up in a ponytail and left curtain bangs to frame her face. To truly take the style back a few decades, she flipped out the ends of Selena's hair. While the singer may have been born in 1992, she still looked right at home wearing the fun vintage, bouncy look.
Hung Vanngo was on makeup duty the same day, and he seriously took care of business with a sharp-as-knives cat-eye juxtaposed with a delicate shade of pink on Gomez's lips and eyes. Judging by all the selfies she took, Gomez was definitely feeling herself with the '60s inspired look and we can't blame her!
The star looked stunning — and she was also perfectly on-trend, as Hollywood is in the midst of a small retro renaissance. We've spotted outwardly-flipped hair on the red carpet throughout this awards season. Along with '70s bell-bottoms and '80s neon makeup, the hair flip of the past may be coming back to haunt and/or delight us. Get your barrel curling iron ready.
