Selena Gomez Joked About Her Disney Career Ahead Of Her Return To TV

Selena Gomez is making her big TV comeback!

After departing from Wizards of Waverly Place in 2012, Gomez is returning to TV to play Mabel in Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building.

She revealed how much she’s changed as an actor during the Television Critics Association press panel for Only Murders in the Building.

"I signed my life away to Disney at a very young age, so I didn't know exactly what I was doing," Gomez joked.

"I was just running around on set, and now I feel like a sponge and I soak up all the wisdom that I can,” she added.

Gomez’s costars Steve Martin and Martin Short say she’s gotten a lot more “sophisticated” over the years, and Gomez agrees.

The “Taki Taki” singer also said she loves the script for Only Murders in the Building.

In the comedic murder mystery, Gomez plays a resident of an Upper West Side apartment building who discovers that one of her neighbors has died. In order to find the killer, she teams up with two more of her neighbors to uncover the truth.

"The level of sophistication of the material is the first reason why I wanted to do this,” Gomez said. "It's really nice to be back on TV and it's nice to be cast as my actual age, which never happens."

Only Murders in the Building premieres on Hulu on Aug. 31. I can’t wait to watch it!
