Selena Gomez Didn’t Have Her Phone During 90-Day Break: ‘It Was the Most Refreshing, Calming, Rejuvenating Feeling’

Selena Gomez may be the most-followed celebrity on Instagram, but the star is focusing on everything except her phone at the moment.

In a new interview with Thrive Global, the entertainer, 24, reveals she gave up the device for three months during her recent career break.

“It was the most refreshing, calming, rejuvenating feeling. Now I rarely pick up my phone, and only limited people have access to me,” says the star, who adds that she doesn’t check her e-mail.

Noting the last time she felt burnt out was three months ago before she took a “hiatus to take care of myself,” Gomez says she finds energy by “staying healthy (mentally, physically, emotionally)” and “learning new things.”

Every morning, she starts off the day by drinking water, stretching and taking a deep breath, and if she finds a short break during her day, she cooks or naps.

Last month, Gomez made her return to the spotlight at the American Music Awards with a raw and tearful speech after seeking professional treatment for her emotional health.

“I think it’s safe to say that most of you know a lot of my life, whether I like it or not. I had to stop, ’cause I had everything and I was absolutely broken inside,” she said on stage as she accepted an award. “I kept it all together enough to where I would never let you down, but I kept it too much together to where I let myself down.”

Gomez also left her Selenators with a piece of advice: “If you are broken, you do not have to stay broken … whether you respect me or not, one thing you should know about is I care about people.”
