Selena's relationship with Justin Bieber began during her Kiss & Tell days back in 2010, and the young couple would go on to date multiple times before calling it quits for good. Diehard Jelena fans weren't happy with Justin when he began to see Hailey Bieber on-and-off during the periods of time when he wasn't dating Selena.

The Internet looooves pitting Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber against each other, and has for years. There's no denying that the back-and-forth got confusing (see: Justin and Selena's relationship timeline as well as Justin and Hailey's relationship timeline) but now that Justin and Hailey are officially married and have been for years, you'd think that the alleged drama would be over by now, right?

Four years after Justin and Hailey got married, Mrs. Bieber appeared on Alex's Cooper's Call Her Daddy podcast and publicly spoke about Selena Gomez for the very first time. Shortly after that, photographer Tyrell Hampton posted an Internet-breaking, viral photo of Selena and Hailey snuggled up in a close embrace, squashing rumors that the two mega-celebrities were still beefing over Justin all these years later...until the TikTok eyebrow drama began. Below, we break down a complete timeline of Hailey and Selena’s alleged drama.

March 6, 2023: Fans wonder if Justin shaded Selena with his party favors

Selena didn't attend Justin's 29th birthday party over this past weekend, but her name began to circulate after guests posted photos of one specific party favor that raised eyebrows.

One of the things that Justin gave out to his friends and family was a cowboy boot-shaped lighter with the words "I'm so thankful I didn't end up with what I thought I wanted" carved into the silver souvenir. Fans began to wonder whether the lighters were subtly throwing shade at Selena amidst the drama with Hailey, or whether the message was just an odd coincidence.

Meanwhile, Selena took to TikTok to share a message with fans about mental health. "Thank you and love you all so much. I'm deeply grateful for each and every one of you humans. You make me unbelievably happy," she wrote. "Please, please be kinder and consider others' mental health. My heart has been heavy and I only want good for everyone. All my love," Selena continued in a since-deleted comment.

February 28, 2023: Hailey's old tweets begin to resurface

The Internet is forever, folks — Hailey Bieber has recently been trending on Twitter thanks to a couple of savvy Twitter users that dug back into the archives and found old tweets that the model had written about her now-husband and his then-girlfriend.

@Xovalerie_ posted a screenshot of a tweet from May 27, 2011 that read "I'm for sure 100% team #Jelena" as well as a tweet from September 23, 2011 saying "I don't care what anyone says but Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez together is the definition of a teenage dream! #word."

September 23, 2011 was notably the night that Justin Bieber surprised Selena with a dinner and movie for two in the empty, rented-out Staples Center in LA.

Hailey also tweeted, "Selena Gomez is so cute. Don't argue. Bye" on October 7, 2011, and wrote "She is beyond flawless and he’s ya know he’s Bieber. They are a perfect relationship.. -__-forever alone" on January 8, 2012, just six years before she said "I do" and became Mrs. Bieber.

Hailey has not responded directly to any of the recent drama or these resurfaced tweets.

February 22, 2023: The 'mean girl' drama involving Selena, Hailey, and Kylie Jenner

In a since deleted TikTok, Selena joked around in a lighthearted vid about how she accidentally over-laminated her brows. Three hours after Sel posted the TikTok, Kylie posted a selfie on her Insta story with the caption, "This was an accident?????" written over her eyebrows. She then posted another pic to her story, this time a screenshot of her and Hailey on Facetime, with the cameras zoomed in on their eyebrows. TikTok user @devotedly.yours posted a video with a debrief of the drama and called out Bieber and Jenner for "shading Selena Gomez."

The situation went TikTok viral, with fans deeming Hailey and Kylie 'mean girls.' Kylie defended herself in the comment section of the vid, saying "This is reaching. No shade towards Selena ever and I didn't see her eyebrow posts! You guys are making something out of nothing. This is silly."

Selena replied to Ky, commenting "Agreed @kyliejenner It's all unnecessary. I'm a fan of Kylie!"

But many Selena fans are still suspicious and believe that Kylie and Hailey are just mean girls, especially after footage resurfaced of Hailey sticking her tongue out and pretending to gag after Taylor Swift's album was mentioned when co-hosting the series Drop The Mic in 2017. Selena defended Tay in the comments, saying "So sorry, my best friend is and continues to be one of the best in the game."

The internet has been flooding Sel with love and support, and she even became the most followed woman on Instagram with an astounding 387M followers, passing the previous title holder Kylie, who has 379M.

TikTok user @sunlightchaser made a post in support of Selena, calling Kylie and Hailey 'nepo babies' and saying their behavior is 'disgusting' and despicable.'

"I love you," Selena commented.

In a recent Insta post, with the caption "I deleted this one time because I thought maybe it was too much but eh," Sel edited the caption to add "(taking a break from social)," but has made one post since, for her friend and bride-to-be Connar Franklin.

She also announced her social media departure in a TikTok live, saying "I'm so blessed. I have the best friends, the best fans in the whole world, and I just couldn't be happier. I'm good. I love who I am. And yeah. I'm gonna be taking a break from social media cause it's...this is a little silly. I'm 30. I'm too old for this." The singer has since reactivated her socials and appears to have returned.

February 14, 2023: Selena comments on Hailey's deleted TikTok post

A now-deleted TikTok that Hailey Bieber posted in early January is resurfacing thanks to TikTok user @ellenacuario's theory that the model's lip sync to the audio "I'm not saying she deserved it, but I'm saying that God's timing is always right" was directed at Selena Gomez.

Was Hailey throwing shade? Some fans say yes. Others brought up the fact that both women have been seen interacting warmly with each other, with one TikTok user commenting, "they don't have beef with each other so why would it be abt her?"

Selena settled the rumors once and for all in the comment section, writing, "It's ok! I don't let these things get me down! Be nice to everyone! x."

That settles it — even if Hailey's TikTok *was* about Selena (which we're assuming it's not, since both women are reportedly more than cordial with each other), Selena is unbothered and living her best life rn.

Yes, we're still talking about those photos of Selena and Hailey at the Academy Museum Gala. How could we not?! Since their iconic pic was taken together, sources close to the stars have reported that they are "more than cordial" and "are glad to have cleared the air." We've been eager to know every single detail behind the snap, however, we hadn't yet heard from either Selena or Hailey themselves — until now.

In a recent interview with Vulture, Selena discussed her upcoming documentary, My Mind & Me, an intimate look into her life and mental health journey. At the end of the interview, the "Love You Like a Love Song" singer is asked about the viral photo with Hailey, and what led to it. Selena downplayed the interaction, saying "it's not a big deal."

"It’s not even a thing," she added about the alleged feud.

October 26, 2022: Hailey and Selena are reportedly "more than cordial"

About a week after Selena and Hailey broke the internet with their photo together at the Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles, a source confirmed to Entertainment Tonight that everything is truly amiable.

Selena and Hailey "are more than cordial and just want to remain friendly," they said. "Justin, Hailey, and Selena are glad to have cleared the air, moved on with their lives, and closed that chapter."

"Selena is doing amazing and is just focusing on herself, her family, and her close-knit circle of friends," they added. "She's not trying to settle down right now and she's just living her best life."

Meanwhile, the Biebers are doing "great," the source affirmed. "They are so in love and focusing on their work, as well as their mental and physical health." September 29, 2022: Selena says "words matter" on IG Live

One day after Hailey's interview about Selena (and other things) was released, Selena took to Instagram Live to chat with fans about her newest Rare Beauty launch and share a heartfelt message.

September 28, 2022: Hailey makes first public comments about Selena on Call Her Daddy

Hailey Bieber finally addressed the years and years of drama, rumored feuds, cheating accusations, and aggressive bullying from Jelena fans in a viral interview on Alex Cooper's hit podcast Call Her Daddy, explaining that there is no drama with Selena.

In regards to the sticky timeline of their relationship, Hailey explained, "When him and I ever started, like, hooking up or like anything of that sort, he was not ever in a relationship — ever, at any point. ...It's not my character to mess with someone's relationship, I would just never do that. I was raised better than that. I'm not interested in doing that."

Hailey also noted that she and Selena have communicated post-marriage, which has brought her a lot of peace. "It's all respect. It's all love. The quick accusations were entirely false and Selena directly responded to them soon after, saying on TikTok, "Guys no idea what I did but I really am sorry. Zero bad intention. Deleting soon."

April 2022: Hailey begs commenters to leave her alone

Over a decade after Justin and Selena first made their red carpet debut as a new couple back in 2011, Hailey Bieber took to TikTok with a genuine request.

One TikTok user compiled footage of the married couple posing for photos shortly after, showing how Justin mouthed "I love you" and "don't cry, don't cry" as he wiped under her eyes. Hailey quickly put on a pair of black sunglasses to hide her eyes.

March 2021: Hailey talks about the constant Selena comments

Hailey Bieber launched her own YouTube channel in 2021, and one of her videos revolved around the topic of mental health and social media in conversation with psychiatrist Dr. Jessica Clemons.

Hailey appeared to address Selena fans who continually "hound" her with comments when she explained, "I think when you’re going through a situation where you just have so many people hounding you with the same thing over and over and over again, it starts to mess with your mind and then you start to question everything." Here's the timeline: Selena released Lose You To Love Me, the ultimate moving-on, self-love anthem at 12:00AM on October 23rd.

Then, 34 minutes later, Hailey Bieber posted the song I'll Kill You by Jhene Aiko and Summer Walker on her Instagram story. "I wish a b*tch would try to come between us, it won't end up good," sings Jhené Aiko.

However, Hailey noted that the story post wasn't an attack. "Please stop with this nonsense," Hailey commented on Just Jared's Instagram post. "There is no 'response.' This is complete BS."

Selena took to Twitter to share an intimate look into how she was emotionally handling the situation, writing that she was thanking Jesus. The singer typed out, "He said to me, "Selena hold on, I hurt when you hurt. I cry when you cry but I will NEVER, EVER leave your side. Work with me, walk with me and watch how I do it."
