A Select Batch Of Chocolate-Covered Pretzels Is Being Recalled From Retailers In 2 States

From Delish

Select batches of chocolate-covered pretzels manufactured by Giant Eagle Inc. are being voluntarily recalled due to an undeclared allergen. The items, which were sold at retailers in two states, include pecans though a packaging error failed to report that the nuts were included.

Pecans are part of the tree nut family which is one of the big eight allergens. Failing to declare the allergen on product packaging could lead to serious reactions in individuals that are allergic to the nuts. Giant Eagle Inc. recalled their Market District Gourmet Pretzel Platters and Gourmet Pretzel Bags after the labeling error was spotted and reported by a customer.

The products included in the recall have sell-by dates through April 3, 2021, and can be identified by code numbers 25206 and 45505 that are located on the top right corner of the item's tag. At the time of publication, the FDA announcement verified that the items were sold at the Sweet Shoppe department in the Township of Pine Market District and the Settler’s Ridge Market District in Pennsylvania as well as the Portage Crossing Market District in Ohio.

Currently, there has been one reported illness linked to this recall. Customers who find the recalled item in their possession are being told to dispose of it or return it to a local Giant Eagle or Market District for a full refund.
