We’re in the midst of a retro gaming trend—and we’re loving it!

The Sega Genesis Mini (on sale for $59, was $80) is an exact replica of Sega’s original video game console from 1989—only smaller. From the volume slider to the side air vents, it really looks like Sega used the shrink ray from Honey, I Shrunk The Kids to create this console.

It includes 42 built-in games from Sega’s past, including Altered Beast, Golden Axe, Ecco the Dolphin, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Earthworm Jim. It also comes with the rare Mega Man: The Wily Wars (only available via a Sega Channel subscription back in the day) and Sega’s never-before-released version of Tetris.

The Sega Genesis Mini features a few modern touches like game saves and well-organized and colorful menus, but still captures what it felt like to play video games in the early ‘90s. And if you really want a blast from the past, you can use a retro setting to make your TV look like that old boob tube from yesteryear.

“This SEGA Genesis mini is really a nice console,” added another satisfied shopper. “The games play nice, the controls are responsive, and the interface is user friendly. I especially like the fact that I can go to the main screen and choose a new game straight from the controller without having to touch the mini console. All around a good buy, especially for the nostalgia.”

The mini console comes with two full-sized three-button controllers that attach via USB (however, a six-button controller is also available for $20), a power cable, a microUSB power adaptor and an HDMI cable.
