After Seeking Zika Advice, Meghan Markle Will Complete Full Royal Tour
Meghan Markle's 16-day royal tour of Australia, Fiji, Tonga, and New Zealand will go on as planned, according to People and Entertainment Tonight, despite the risk of Zika virus on Fiji and Tonga. Expectant mothers like Meghan, who announced her pregnancy today, are often advised not to travel to countries with risk of the mosquito-borne virus, which can cause birth defects including microcephaly, a neurological disorder in which an infant's head size is significantly smaller than normal.
Daily Mail royal correspondent Rebecca English tweeted that a royal spokesperson said the couple sought medical advice and decided to make no change to their plans. Meghan will have a more limited itinerary in Fiji and Tonga, however. According to ET, only Harry will visit the Fiji War Memorial and the Colo-i-Suva forest.
A spokesman said there is no change to their programme in Fiji and Tonga next week despite FCO advice that pregnant women should not travel to the region because of its moderate zika risk.

Harry and Meghan can and undoubtably will also work to minimize their risk once there by using insect repellent at all times and wearing long-sleeved clothes. There are several other precautions they and any other expectant couple traveling to a region with a Zika risk can take here, from the CDC.
