Seeing Double: Yara Shahidi Channels Sade and the Internet Goes Crazy

Yara Shahidi is definitely a fashion icon in the making. Whether on the red carpet, in a scene on her ABC show, Black-ish, or making appearances as a speaker, Shahidi’s style is ever-evolving, as she is. However, her latest look took slaying to a whole new level.

On Thursday, the 16-year-old paid homage to soul singer Sade Adu, more commonly known as Sade, by posting on Twitter a recreation of her signature side braid and red lipstick look:

With the images channeling Sade’s ’80s style down to the double denim, oversized gold hoops, and cuff bracelet, many viewers did a double-take when they realized that one photo was of Sade and the other was really Shahidi.

The young actress perfected her beauty tribute to Sade by copying the “Sweetest Taboo” singer’s perfectly arched brows and superdewy skin. But we love how she added a modern touch by styling her strands in a voluminous rope braid.
