See Prince George's 9th Birthday Photo, Taken By His Mom, Kate Middleton

Prince George turns nine tomorrow! To mark his birthday, George's parents shared a sweet snap of the future king taken while he was on vacation with his family in the United Kingdom earlier this month.

The photo, which shows George grinning widely on the beach, was taken by Kate. In the new portrait, the prince wears a light blue polo and a black watch is slightly visible on his wrist. While the focus is on George, a beach and a body of water is in the background.

The Duchess of Cambridge typically takes a new picture of her children each year to share on their birthdays, and George's ninth birthday was part of that tradition. (Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, may be joining in on the custom: Kate photographed her in honor of her 75th birthday, an experience Camilla called "a lot of fun.")

For George's eighth birthday, the Duchess of Cambridge took a photo of him on top of a car in Norfolk, wearing a navy and orange striped polo shirt. On his seventh birthday, she snapped him smiling outdoors in a camouflage t-shirt.

Prince George has been in the public eye more frequently recently. Earlier this month, he joined his parents at the Wimbledon men's finals. During his great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee weekend, he made his carriage procession debut during Trooping the Colour, and appeared on the Buckingham Palace balcony twice alongside his siblings, parents, grandparents, and great-grandmother. He also baked cupcakes with his siblings in an adorable video.

The Cambridges are likely laying low for the rest of the summer before school starts again in the fall. It has been reported, but not confirmed, that the Cambridges are moving from Kensington Palace to Windsor ahead of the fall term.
