Few of us would be lucky to have one iconic moment in our entire lives, but Dame Helen Mirren just had two show-stopping moments in less than a week. Hot off the heels of being carried down a red carpet while literally sitting atop a throne, Mirren bounded down a Paris Fashion Week runway proving she truly is an unmatched queen.
During the L'Oréal Paris, the 74-year-old actress sprinted down the catwalk, barefoot, spinning and twirling in her black and white chiffon Giambattista Valli dress. It's what I imagine all of us would do if given the opportunity to be in a fashion show, losing all sense of chill.
Take a look at the pictures below. It's a full mood that I hope you channel when leaving the office on Friday.
Perhaps Mirren was inspired to go barefoot after seeing Gigi Hadid in Marc Jacobs spring 2020 show, when she went down the runway sans shoes after her heel broke.
Mirren appeared in the third annual Le Défilé show alongside other L'Oréal ambassadors including Camila Cabello, Eva Longoria, and former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell. The Oscar-winner spoke about the experience to Vogue, saying that her biggest fear about being a model was tripping. (Relatable.)
“I just hope I don’t fall over!” Mirren said.
She continued: “If it was just me in a show, it would be, ‘Oh, what an amazing novelty that they have a really old woman walking!’—and I wouldn’t feel so good about that. But here we are, a whole, diverse group of sizes, shapes, genders, and races. We’re making a statement about inclusivity of the family of L'Oréal and I think that’s a great message and I’m happy to be a part of it.”
Thankfully, Mirren will be fully embracing her royal status in her new HBO series, Catherine the Great, set to premiere on October 21.
