See Inside the Mondrian South Beach's $20 Million Renovation — And Its New Mediterranean-style Beach Club

For most hotels, the first few months of the pandemic were horribly stressful but for the Mondrian South Beach in Miami, opportunity knocked.
With the help of Peter Oleck and Danny Cubes of OS Design Group, and LDV Hospitality, the hotel took on a $20 million renovation project with a focus on wellness — something we could all use a little more of these days — and welcomed guests to their new Baia Beach Club in November of 2020.
Featuring unique and sweeping views of the Biscayne Bay, ("baia" translates to "bay" in Italian) the vast outdoor space with its organic timber foundation and handmade macramé accents is open, airy, and perfect for social distancing. And while you are sitting and watching the sunset over the bay (a rarity for a South Beach hotel) with a delicious cocktail—perhaps the Coco Cleanse or the Healing Haze— for a minute you may just forget about all the difficulties of the past year.

"The rebranding really focuses on feeling good inside and out. It is a nourishing fresh take," General Manager AnaMaria Tolci Soare told Travel + Leisure.
The restaurant's new take on Mediterranean cuisine, created by critically acclaimed Chef Paolo Dorigato, will make you feel like you're dining beachside in Greece. Think vegetable plates with rich dips like tzatziki and tyrokafteri or opt for horiatiki salad, citrus-marinated bay scallops, seared tuna bruschetta, or their signature rotisserie chicken. The service is also impeccable making it the perfect venue for a work lunch or just dinner with friends.
The Baia indoor restaurant — situated right next to the hotel's luxurious pool — is also available for the occasional rainy day in Miami as well as The Sunset Bar and Terrace which can host up to 120 guests.

In addition to guests of the hotel, local residences can join as BBC members. The pool is complete with various was to lounge including elegant cabins, pavilions, daybeds, and a boat dock.
The lobby also received a makeover with beautiful marble floors, marine blue woodworking and Italian pink quartzites, all enveloping the emerald green Gem Bar waiting for guests to check out upon arrival.
And while eating well and spending the day poolside does plenty for your mental health but the Mondrian has even more in store for their guests for 2021 to help them feel good inside and out.
Scheduled to open in mid-February, the new, fully-renovated 4,400-square Spa at Baia Beach Club will offer all the restorative services you can imagine to make this year better than last. From advanced facial and body therapies, a salon, mindful meditation to moonlight yoga classes, nutritional consulting, steam and sauna rooms, you will definitely feel nurtured.
The 220-room Mondrian South Beach, which opened in 2008, has also implemented COVID-19 precautions with all staff members wearing PPE and taking temperature of every guest entering the hotel.
A wellness kit is also available for purchase in each room mini bar containing masks, hand sanitizer, and a COVID-19 awareness card.
