When Hailey Baldwin and Justin Bieber got engaged, one of the most popular follow-up questions was, "Wait, WTF just happened?" and then, "Okay, sure, but what does the ring look like?" Thankfully, Justin did not disappoint, having presented Hailey with a *custom* ring that reportedly cost $500,000. Chill.

Cut to the curious minds at Cosmopolitan wondering what it would be like if a regular-ass woman expected a rock like that. Engage Studio, a Toronto-based jewelry company, helped us out by crafting a nearly *exact* replica of Hailey's ring. Mock-ups such as this are part of their engagement ring services-they help couples create their ideal ring and they've made other celeb ring replicas before, such as Meghan Markle's and Beyonce's.

Next, we had nine ladies try on the ring and text the men in their lives a picture without providing any context whatsoever. The results were hilarious and, dare I say, a little heartwarming.

Sarah, 23, texted her boyfriend of four years

Her reaction to his reaction: "At this point, we've been together for a fair amount of time so I don't think he was phased by it at all and actually *I* was the one stressed about texting him something funny back. Later, he said he figured I got it in a toy machine or something and was just sending a dumb pic. C'est la vie. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯"

Katie, 27, texted her boyfriend of three years

Her reaction to his reaction: "Matt’s reaction was funny and not unwarranted. However, I never clarified whether I was serious or not so here’s to hoping!"

Carina, 24, texted a guy she's gone on four dates with

Her reaction to his reaction: "I’ve only gone on a few dates with Alex, but he’s cool and funny so I wasn’t surprised that he rolled with the punches, TBH. Get you a man you can comfortably troll immediately. Also, I think I’m the Bieber of our relationship."

Rachel, 25, texted the guy she's been dating for six months

Her reaction to his reaction: "So after this convo I called him. He made some casual conversation and then was like...'So, you’re looking at rings?' I started laughing and told him about the joke, he laughed and said he was a little suspicious. The ring isn’t really my style and I think he just knew it wasn’t what I would have wanted anyway."

Amanda, 25, texted her boyfriend of over three years

Her reaction to his reaction: "Joe and I have been talking about getting engaged every so often, and since my dad is a jeweler in Manhattan, he knows he'll have to buy a ring through him. He always says he doesn’t know much about rings, so I sold it as if $500,000 was just a standard. Joe also knows I’m a huge bargain-lover, so he was extra caught off guard."

Alexis, 23, texted the man she's been dating on and off for eight years

Her reaction to his reaction: "I am not at all surprised by his reaction. He's such a funny guy, so I expected nothing less from him. But hey, at least I know $10,000 is a possibility."

Olivia, 23, texted her BF of five years

Her reaction to his reaction: "I thought it was funny how he automatically asked 'Pure diamond??' How was his first response not 'Holy shit' or 'Where did you get that?' It was hard to read what he actually thought. I mean I guess I shouldn't be that surprised. We send each other goofy weird memes all day so that he probably just thought it was that?"

Kristen, 24, texted her boyf of 4.5 years

Her reaction to his reaction: "Kind of over the top?! Just kind of? If he thinks this is kind of over the top then what's his definition of actually over the top? But seriously, I'm surprised he didn't sh*t his pants."

Lauren, 24, texted her boyfriend of over two years

Her reaction to his reaction: "After working at Cosmo for over a year (and having taken part in a previous engagement prank), I think he knew something was up. But contrary to his last response, I don't say I’m engaged to JB all the time-I just dream about it every night. Just kidding, Max, it’s a joke okay?!"
