For all of us, social distancing and shelter-in-place laws have dramatically impacted our daily lives. For those diagnosed with COVID-19, restrictions are even more severe. Chris Cuomo, the host of CNN's Cuomo Prime Time and the brother of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, recently recovered from the disease and was just cleared to see his family. Their reunion was oh-so-sweet.

Cuomo posted a video on his Instagram account documenting his exit from quarantine and from his basement, where the journalist has been living and filming shows for weeks.

"Alright, here it is, the official re-entry from the basement, cleared by CDC [the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention]," Cuomo said, while climbing the stairs. "This is what I've been dreaming of, literally, for weeks."

We then see Cuomo greet his wife, Christina Cuomo, and his children, Carolina and Mario Cuomo. We soon learn his eldest daughter, Bella Cuomo, is behind the camera, filming this major moment.

Cuomo notes that Christina, who was also diagnosed with COVID-19, has been allowed out of self-isolation, too, as she no longer has a fever or any other COVID symptoms. The anchor does not return without a sense of humor, as he dramatically pretends to cough on his wife, while she jokingly flinches.

However, Cuomo refrains from hugging or kissing his wife and children, stating, "We're still a little scared, so I'll just give you one of these." He then gives his wife and kids a playful "hang loose" gesture, with fingers in and thumb and pinky out.

In the video, Cuomo is clearly excited to be back with his family. He thanks each of his kids and his wife for taking care of him and each other while he was isolated.

"This is the dream, just to be back up here, doing normal things," Cuomo said.

The reunion, however, was somewhat subdued. On Cuomo Prime Time Monday night, the anchor spoke to neurosurgeon Dr. Sanjay Gupta, and explained the video's quiet tone.

"[Coronavirus] has spooked the family. We're spooked by this, like families that you've talked to all over the country." he said. "There's a little bit of a trauma and a recovery process that we're going to have to go through, as you see families all having. I never heard of recovery. I didn't know that this was like having some kind of baby trauma."

Cuomo explained that he has a three-week recovery plan, including daily exercises, to get him back to normal. The 49-year-old shared that it had been difficult so far, but he will continue nonetheless.

Also, when he has fully recovered, Cuomo plans to donate blood, so scientists can research his antibodies. But, for now, Cuomo is focusing on his rest and recovery, and is grateful to be back with his family.

"Today, I am a lucky guy who is even luckier than ever," he said.
