Second-Look Bridesmaid Dresses Are Trending, but Don't Freak Out—This Is Great News

Being a bridesmaid is not cheap. So if your immediate reaction to hearing the words “second-look bridesmaid dresses are trending” was to start hyperventilating and formulating a plan to decline every bridal party invitation you receive from now on, then we have some good news. This trend is actually quite the opposite of a bridezilla-type move.

More and more brides are telling their bridal party that they don't have to wear the bride's chosen bridesmaid dress all night and that it's totally fine to change into whatever they'd like for the reception. Because really, after the ceremony and the staged photos are taken, what's the point of all dressing the same anyway?

Bridesmaids are being encouraged to choose a second look of their own so that they can feel totally comfortable for the party portion of the night. Of course, changing is also optional meaning you aren't necessarily committed to buying yet another dress and racking up your bill as a wedding participant.

So if you're still mad at cousin Gina for forcing you and your fellow victims bridesmaids to wear the most hideous chartreuse jumpsuits, take a deep breath and relish in the fact that at least she's letting you change into a pretty LBD of your choosing for the party.
