For last year’s HGTV Urban Oasis sweepstakes, interior designer Brian Patrick Flynn renovated a 1900s New England cottage in Portland, Maine. The 2,000-square-foot home, which features 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms, boasts colorful interiors with nautical themes. So who’s the lucky person who gets to call this adorbs coastal cottage home? Yesterday, HGTV announced that the giveaway winner is Elsie Kaiser, a physician assistant in outpatient neurosurgery at a hospital in Seattle. Love this for her.

Last month, Flynn teamed up with Kaiser’s sister, Caroline, to surprise her and her fiancé, Matt, with the news via a Zoom video chat. Kaiser thought she was having a Zoom happy hour with Caroline but was shocked when he told her that she had won the sweepstakes and a gorgeous new home.

Kaiser was randomly selected from more than 74 million entries. “I feel very lucky,” Kaiser told HGTV. “Before this, I only won local bingo at our church festivals. I feel like I’m a fortunate person, but luck is completely different and now I feel super lucky!” How sweet?!

Flynn designed the home with nods to the city’s vibrant landscape and culture. The main bedroom, for instance, features royal blue walls and ceilings as well as nautical flags, paying homage to the coast. Throughout the home, there’s bright nautical-inspired wallpaper and seaside art, including a piece commissioned from Karen Musgraves, a young sailor.
