Will Season 3 of "Selling Sunset" Show Heather Rae Young's Engagement?

From House Beautiful

Season 3 of Selling Sunset drops this week, and we couldn't be more excited for star Heather Rae Young to return to the small screen. The hit Netflix reality show—from the creative minds behind Laguna Beach and The Hills—follows the lives of a group of successful women in Los Angeles's ultra-competitive, high-end real estate market.

In addition to Young, the show stars realtors Mary Fitzgerald, Christine Quinn, Chrishell Stause, Davina Potraz, and Maya Vander alongside the owners of the real-life real estate company where they work: Jason and Brett Oppenheim of The Oppenheim Group. Newcomer Amanza Smith, an interior design specialist, is also featured in round three.

As the show's tagline says, "Relationships are everything—and that often means major drama." If you're living under a rock and haven't seen the popular series yet, Lionsgate SVP Alice Dickens-Koblin offered a great summary of the show when Season 2 was announced.

Selling Sunset is not your typical real estate series—it’s bold, fun, and full of drama that will engage audiences episode after episode,” she said of the show. “It enables viewers to go beyond the luxurious homes and into a world of powerful female realtors who navigate a truly cutthroat business."

Season three of Selling Sunset will drop on Netflix on Friday, Aug. 7. Here's what we know so far: Quinn's wedding to the businessman Christian Richard will be a major plot point, as well as Stause's divorce from This Is Us star Justin Hartley. Young's relationship with HGTV star Tarek El Moussa, to who she is now engaged, will also be a hot topic.

When is Selling Sunset Season 3 premiering?

The third season of Selling Sunset will drop on Netflix on Friday, Aug. 7, 2020. While the total number of episodes is unknown, if the previous two seasons are any indication, we'll likely get another eight episodes ranging in length from about 30 to about 45 minutes.

On the same day as Season 2 debuted, Netflix surprise announced a premiere date for the third installment. It remains to be seen if fans will be so lucky this time around.

Will season 3 of Selling Sunset show Tarek's proposal to Heather?

Filming for Season 3 was filmed before Flipping 101 star Tarek El Moussa got down on one knee to propose to Heather. The surprise engagement was filmed, but the footage won't be featured on Netflix. Young previously told House Beautiful that El Moussa did not appear on the show due to his contract with HGTV.

Do expect to see more of the couple's relationship on camera in the future, though: Young previously expressed interest to House Beautiful in doing a show with El Moussa—when the timing is right.

"I'm learning through Tarek how to design homes, how to flip homes, how to knock down this wall to make it this," she said. "Things that I never knew before. And he walks me through how to do all that. I would love to keep learning with Tarek, and he learns from me—my L.A. style. We would love to do a show together. It just has to be the right time."

Quinn teases dueling feuds with Young and Potraz

Contractural issues weren't enough to stop El Moussa from becoming a hot topic of discussion among the team at The Oppenheim Group on Season 2, and the drama certainly appears to bleed into Season 3. The trailer features Young picking up her purse as she walks away from a conversation

"I can't help that people are interested in Tarek's and my life," Young says as Quinn laughs. "I'm not doing this anymore. You guys are making fun of me."

Quinn admitted to Page Six in a recent interview that she refers to Young and El Moussa as “Speidi," a reference to the couple name of reality TV stars Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag.

“It’s really funny to see Heather’s relationship play out because her and her boyfriend have such an interesting dynamic,” she said. “I call them ‘Speidi’ all the time because it’s like articles all the time about baking cookies, you know, watching movies. It’s ridiculous, so you know, you’re going to see the girls and I just get so tired of it.”

Quinn confirmed the "rift" with Young, but that wasn't the only one.

“Heather and I get into a fight, and Davina and I get into a fight, so it’s really interesting. The dynamic has changed,” she told the outlet. “Season 3 has quite a cliffhanger in regards to me … something in my personal life.”

Rifts aside, Quinn claims in the Season 3 trailer that "I never start the drama—I just finish it."

Quinn's "gothic winter wonderland" wedding will be a major plot point

Mary's big day with Romain Bennett was featured in the season two finale, and Quinn became the next member of the Oppenheim team to say, "I do." She officially tied the knot with businessman Christian Richard on Dec. 15, 2020. The bride wore a custom black couture gown accented by ruby-red Christian Louboutins as she walked down the aisle to to the Ava Max hit “Sweet but Psycho." Photos of the "gothic winter wonderland" affair were shared exclusively with People magazine, so you can read up on many of the details here.

"It was the most spectacular event I've ever attended or even seen on television," Smith recalled in an interview with Women's Health. "This was like if Kylie Jenner has a birthday party for her daughter, that was the equivalent of Christine's wedding. I was telling all our friends after that, 'You know what, if any of us get married again or get married in the future, just go to the courthouse because there's no way we can top Christine's wedding.' It was unbelievable."

And it appears that the spectacle wasn't limited to the ceremony itself. Stause can be seen walking out of the wedding in the trailer as she says, "I don't want to do this anymore."

Stause's divorce may overshadow Quinn's wedding, but the tea may be spare

Speaking of Stause, the trailer shows Quinn reacting to a breaking news alert that Justin Hartley had filed for divorce from her colleague.

"I really want to be excited for my wedding," Quinn says. "But obviously it's overshadowed by Crishell's divorce.

The trailer ends with Stause saying, "The crazy way that this went down, people want answers. I want answers." However, we may be left with more questions than answers going into Season 4.

“I think that was the understanding that they had is that he wanted to be totally private in regards to Selling Sunset, which she respected,” Quinn recently told Page Six. “So we’re never going to see him on the show, and we’re never going to see her talk about him. And I really don’t think there’s ever any resolve, unfortunately.”

Spoiler Alert: The $44 million Hollywood Hills mansion was finally purchased

The $44 million Hollywood Hills mansion featured prominently in the first two seasons of Selling Sunset finally sold, albeit well below the asking price. The Oppenheim Group announced the record $35.5 million sale on its Instagram page weeks ago.

As a refresher, the 20,000-square foot digs has a 15-car garage, a wrap-around infinity pool, and unrivaled views of the city. The trailer previews the announcement which is marked by Stause ringing the office bell. According to Smith, it was Jason who pushed through the December 2019 sale.

"It was Jason. He sold it to a couple," she told Women's Health. "I was upset, because we were kind of hoping that the really handsome single bachelor would buy it so we could go and hang out at the pool."
