'Scott Disick's anger at the Kardashians over being left out is completely unfounded'

There's no two ways about it. Seeing an ex out in the wild is awkward. Whether you spot them in the street or meet at a mutual friends' party, crossing paths with someone you used to know intimately can stir up all sorts of weird and uncomfortable feelings.

It's particularly hard when one of you has happily moved on and the other hasn't. Take Scott Disick and Kourtney Kardashian, who were negotiating a fairly tricky situation in this week's The Kardashians, when Scott was upset that he wasn't invited to Kris Jenner's birthday party.

"For me to hear that you are having a little soirée and you don’t think to invite me makes me feel like complete shit. I love you, but how did you think I would feel?" Scott asks Kris, before Kris explains that she didn't want things to be awkward for daughter Kourtney and new fiancé Travis Barker.

As she put it in the confessional, "Kourtney met her soulmate. That’s gotta be hard for Scott to absorb. But I never expected him to be so angry and wound up over this. He just needs to grow up and be a little more mature."

Later, Scott then lashed out at Kendall Jenner for not inviting him to her birthday party, with the 25-year-old model replying, "Kourtney, at the end of the day, is my sister, and of course I want her there. This dinner was literally 15 people. If it's an intimate dinner and I'm not willing to have an uncomfortable situation happen..."

Scott retorted, "But you invited everybody but me. I would never not invite you."

For some fans, Scott's reasoning is valid. He's the father of Kourtney's three children, Khloé and Kendall have promised to have his back, and Kris previously said she'd treat him like her own blood-related son. Maybe he deserves the occasional invite.

But for me, his anger is completely unfounded. Are we simply forgetting all the negativity Scott brought into Kourtney's life? Have we let slip how their decade-long relationship included multiple cheating allegations, with him messaging someone else saved as 'my wife' during KUWTK season two?

Who remembers the photos of him cuddling up to another woman back in 2015? Or *those* shady DMs he sent to Younes Bendjima, just last year, attempting to shame their ex-girlfriend for being in a happy new relationship? And how about the time he criticised her weight after she gave birth, making her cry by calling her fat?

While it's not easy for anyone to see their ex move on (especially with *that* amount of PDA), we should be happy for Kourtney and her new relationship with Travis. As she put it in The Kardashians episode one, "The second we fell in love, we knew how different it was [to] anything either of us have had before."

Ultimately, Kourtney's family have decided to put her happiness before Scott's, not only out of respect for her new relationship, but possibly as a result of his past behaviours. They're over the moon to see her content with someone else, and want to make it a priority.

Oh, and also? While successful blended families do exist, maybe Kourtney doesn't want to welcome Scott back into her life with open arms. I'm not saying they didn't have good times during their relationship - I'm sure there were pockets of joy and love. But for now, it sounds like co-parenting Mason, Penelope and Reign is enough for her, instead choosing to be selfish in her happy, little love bubble with Travis.

Sorry Scott, but this is Kourt's time to shine.
