  • In an exclusive clip from this week's A Million Little Things, Delilah (Stephanie Szostak) must tell a friend (guest star Richard Kind) of Jon's death.

  • Delilah initially calls the friend, professional photographer Seymour, to ask if he'll take some family photos of her, Sophie, Danny, and baby Charlie.

  • Episode 5 of AMLT season 2 will air on ABC on Thursday at 9 p.m.

Fans of A Million Little Things know that while season 1 of the show centered around a group trying to navigate life after their friend Jon's death, season 2 has zeroed in on some other tensions and mysteries. But on Thursday's episode, "austin," Delilah (Stephanie Szostak) is met with a person who has not yet heard about Jon's death: family friend and photographer Seymour.

In the all-new clip seen here, Delilah calls up Seymour (played by Spin City star and acclaimed voice actor Richard Kind) to ask if he might be able to shoot some new family portraits for the Dixons now that they've welcomed baby Charlie. But when Seymour asks Delilah to pass on a message to Jon, she realizes that she has to break the heartbreaking news to him: Jon died some months back.

Upon hearing this, Seymour reverses course on his original statement that the portraits will have to wait until after he returns from a trip abroad. Instead, he immediately clears his schedule to make room for the Dixons that same day and leaves Delilah overcome with emotion.

Things haven't been easy for Delilah lately, who has been trying to navigate her complicated family life now that she's welcomed a baby born out of her affair with Eddie — and fans have been frustrated with some of her decisions as she tries to figure it all out. According to showrunner DJ Nash, fans can only expect to continue feeling those complicated feelings toward Delilah (and the rest of the AMLT gang) during the episodes of season 2 to come.

"There's stuff this year that is going to make [the audience] upset and concerned and make you lean in, and hopefully it's good TV," DJ recently told GoodHousekeeping.com. "Just like with our real friends in life, we don't always agree with every choice they make, but we hopefully understand and support them through these choices, right or wrong."
