‘Saturday Night Live’ Given Emmy Award for Outstanding Variety Sketch Series

This next category never fails to make us laugh.

Tonight, the 71st annual Emmy Awards took place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, where Saturday Night Live won the statuette for Outstanding Variety Sketch Series.

The show was up against a slew of worthy contenders, including At Home with Amy Sedaris, Documentary Now!, Drunk History, I Love You, America with Sarah Silverman and Who Is America?

The Outstanding Variety Sketch Series category hasn’t been around for very long. In fact, it was originally called Outstanding Variety Series, though it was later separated into two different categories in 2015: Outstanding Variety Sketch Series and Outstanding Variety Talk Series.

Previous winners include Saturday Night Live, Key & Peele and Inside Amy Schumer.

Now that, ladies and gentlemen, is a close race.
