  • Sarah Hyland opened up about the dangers she faces as an immunocompromised person in the face of the Coronavirus pandemic.

  • The actress says that right now, her "panic level is pretty high."

Open up Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and you'll see one message over and over again: stay the f*ck home. You might be asking yourself: Why? Why should I pause my life for a virus that is often mild, even symptom-free? Well, to protect people like Sarah Hyland, who are at a much greater risk due to compromised immune systems.

The Modern Family star has kidney dysplasia and, because of it, has undergone 16 surgeries to date, including two kidney transplants. On a recent appearance on the Brad Behavior podcast, Sarah opened up about the very serious danger Coronavirus poses to her.

"I am obviously immunocompromised with my transplant history, and am on immunosuppressants," she said. According to Sarah, even a "24 hour bug" that most would brush off, puts her out of commission for weeks at a time. "I get it for a week or more. For me, it's really dangerous."

Right now, Sarah says she's really stressing about Coronavirus – understandably so, considering the elderly and immunocompromised are at a much greater risk of death.

"My panic level is pretty high," she admitted. "But I also have a lot of health issues that are very susceptible to stress, so I'm trying to remain calm." Of course, Sarah says she's self-isolating as best she can.

So – ehem – in case you didn't get the message: please, please, PLEASE just stay home.
