Ah, Dr. April Kepner will return to our screens next month! Sarah Drew played the Grey’s Anatomy fan favorite from season 6 to season 14, and her character began as a doe-eyed Mercy West doctor and ended up having one of the most compelling character arcs on the show. Okay, I might be a little biased, but Dr. Kepner is a badass trauma surgeon.

Sarah revealed on March 12 that she’s returning to the show as a guest star. And now, we finally know when. “We have a date! I’m returning to @GreysABC Thursday, May 6 at 9|8c on ABC! ☺️☺️☺️,” she captioned a photo from the upcoming episode. She’s having what looks like a serious conversation with a mystery man. My bet is that it’s her ex-husband Jackson Avery (fans have dubbed the couple “Japril”). Many fans, myself included, were disappointed when Jackson and April weren’t endgame. Some believe there’s still hope for them.

“Omg!!! This is such wonderful news!!! Japril are endgame!!!” one fan wrote in the comments. Another added, “I KNEW JACKSON WENT TO SEE APRIL.”

Ofc, we don’t know why she’s returning. We’ll have to wait until May 6 to find that out. However, Jesse Williams, who plays Jackson, thinks that his character and April are the ~real deal~.

“They are incredible together,” Jesse told Entertainment Tonight. “I am a fan [of Sarah’s] and she is absolutely one of the most special people I’ve worked with. We developed those storylines together with our incredible writers, so it’ll always hold a very real place in my heart and memories. We stay in contact. She is the sweetest.”

He added that he would “love any opportunity for us to continue that story” because Jackson and April “have an ability to communicate and be vulnerable with each other and push each other.”

You love all the deets on Grey’s Anatomy. So do we. Let’s overanalyze them together.
