Sandy Lam wins "Singer 2017"

18 Apr - Hong Kong singer Sandy Lam recently won the latest season of the Hunan TV top singing competition, "I Am A Singer" (re-named "Singer 2017").

The singer, who competed against three other competitors, won the most votes with her rendition of A-Mei's song, "Tomorrow Maybe", with the help of the original Taiwanese vocalist herself.

Sandy couldn't help but tear up when she was announced the winner, saying that she didn't expect to win since her competitors are all great performers.

The second place went to Dimash Kudaibergen, who performed a medley of Michael Jackson's songs including "Billy Jean" and "Earth Song", with the assistance from Chinese performer Laure Shang.

On the other hand, Jam Hsiao and his band The Lion was placed third, followed by Chinese singer Li Jian.

Sandy's victory also marks the first win for a Hong Kong singer, born and bred. The first three seasons were won by mainland singers, while the previous season was won by Chinese-American singer-songwriter Coco Lee.
