From Town & Country

There's an exciting new period film on the horizon. Billed as a U.S.-set Bridgerton or The Great, per Variety, Liz promises to explore the early 19th century American social scene—and how Napoleon Bonaparte's sister-in-law, Elizabeth Patterson Bonaparte, set it on fire. Below, everything we know so far about the biopic.

Samara Weaving will star.

Weaving, known for her work in Ready or Not and Hollywood, is taking on the part of Elizabeth Patterson Bonaparte. Elizabeth is a forgotten celebrity, the daughter of a wealthy Baltimore shipping and real estate magnate, who married Napoleon Bonaparte's youngest brother, Jérôme, much to Napoleon's dismay (he give Jérôme a choice between renouncing his wealth and power or abandoning Elizabeth; Jérôme chose the latter). She would later return to America with her and Jérôme's son—and became an infamous, outspoken icon in a still-nascent nation.
