Outlander fans have had plenty to celebrate lately—from Diana Gabaldon's 9th book Go Tell the Bees That I am Gone to the premiere of season 7. And now, Sam Heughan and Graham McTavish's travel series Men in Kilts has been picked up for a second chapter.

In June, a teaser dropped, confirming that the show will return in August.

And in July Town & Country exclusively premiered the official trailer:

Here's what else we know so far:

Men in Kilts will officially return for season 2.

And this time, the actors are going to New Zealand. Per an official release from Starz, "Heughan and McTavish will continue their immersive adventure travel experience, this time in New Zealand. They will revel in the Scottish influence of New Zealand, while diving into its own history."

Previously, when asked if there might be a second season, McTavish hinted that the show might expand beyond Scotland, telling T&C:

"There are many, many, many more stories to tell in Scotland. We've barely scratched the surface there. And that's not even including the wider Scottish influence that went out into the rest of the world, like in America, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, even places like India and Brazil. Even France, which has such a traditional connection... I think hopefully, this is just the beginning."

Sam and Graham have shared some BTS photos of season two.

The traveling Scots have touched down in New Zealand.

"We’re here. We’re alive. It’s happening. Men in Kilts season two is unfolding all around me in a kaleidoscopic cornucopia of wonderment," wrote McTavish on Instagram. "Here is me wondering how to get off this mountain along with a photo of me behind Sam pointing vaguely at something you can’t see wearing a strange hat. Watch this space for more!"

Heughan has also posted from New Zealand. "We made it!! The “Men in Kilts” are down under! 🇳🇿Feel so lucky to be here, exploring this incredible island with its unique heritage. I can’t wait to share this epic journey with you. Let the adventures begin!!"

Of course, filming had to coordinate with Outlander.

And there was still the question of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. But fortunately, Men in Kilts has some experience with the safety protocols required to produce a series during a global health crisis.

"We were one of the first productions to actually shoot in the UK or in Scotland," Heughan explained, noting that they shot part of Men in Kilts's first season just after the first UK lockdown. "We're very lucky to navigate through all of that."

We'll continue to update this post should more information about a second season become available. In the meantime, if you're craving more from McTavish and Heughan, all six seasons of Outlander are available to stream on the Starz app right now. Shop Now
