Salma Hayek Let Her 11-Year-Old Daughter Cut Her Hair

She posted a video of the styling session with a birthday message for the talented preteen.

Salma Hayek has access to some of the most gifted glam teams in Hollywood and beyond, regularly looking to stylist Jennifer Yepez to get her hair looking its most gorgeous. But it appears the actor is more than happy to give young, up-and-coming talents a chance — especially if they're her own daughter.

In a video Hayek posted to Instagram on Friday, she's seen wearing a bathrobe while her daughter, Valentina, cuts her damp hair. "Happy birthday 🎂🎈🎁 Valentina. You are so awesome and handy too! Thank you for cutting my hair! I love you more than love itself," Hayek wrote in the caption, followed by a Spanish translation of the same message: "Feliz cumpleaños mi niña hermosa, eres lo máximo y súper talentosa! Gracias por cortarme el pelo. Te amo más que al amor."

The video features multiple angles of the hair-cutting session, from close-ups of the ends being trimmed to wider shots of the newly 11-year-old concentrating on her relaxed-looking mother's style. It was all edited together and set to The Foundations' 1968 hit "Build Me Up Buttercup" by Tess Bu Cuarón, the 14-year-old daughter of acclaimed director, Alfonso Cuarón, who, like Hayek, hails from Mexico.

Along with birthday wishes, Hayek's fans left supportive comments about the bathtub-based family hair appointment. "OMG!!!! She is amazing! What a great job she did," one commenter wrote. "Cutest ever! 💖I want to do that with my daughter one day too," another said.

On Saturday, Hayek posted photos of herself with two friends, and in it, her newly trimmed hair looks fantastic — wavy, middle-parted, and showing no signs of any amateur mistakes.

It looks like Valentina has a promising future as a celebrity stylist if she so pleases.
