'What a Sad Day': Social Media Reacts To 'Roe v. Wade' Getting Overturned
History is now set back 50 years. Maybe worse. In a 5-4 decision, the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade on June 24, writing that there is no constitutional right to abortion and that the authority over access to such medical care would be returned to individual states. As a result, almost half of the states in the U.S. are expected to outlaw or restrict abortions. Some will do so immediately.
People filled the streets as well as social media feeds in response. From Dave Portnoy to Barrack and Michelle Obama, celebrities from both the left and the right weighed in with dismay at the decision. Several noted the implications of other rights—access to birth control and same-sex relationships and same-sex marriages—now hanging in the balance.

Today, the Supreme Court not only reversed nearly 50 years of precedent, it relegated the most intensely personal decision someone can make to the whims of politicians and ideologues—attacking the essential freedoms of millions of Americans.

Make no mistake. I heard from a Christian family member; they are gunning for theocratic rule. Every hard earned right is on the chopping block. They told me my queer relatives are a “sin.” These religious fanatics must be stopped. This is a war for the truest sense of America. https://t.co/KXLTBrsRaz

I’m absolutely terrified that this is where we are - that after so many decades of people fighting for women’s rights to their own bodies, today’s decision has stripped us of that. https://t.co/mwK561oxxl

People will still get abortions.
These procedures won't stop just because Roe v. Wade is overturned.
This will only prevent safe, legal abortions from taking place.— Padma Lakshmi (@PadmaLakshmi) June 24, 2022
Scores of users made the devastating point that gun owners now have more control and power over their choices than those with uteruses.
What a sad day for this country. Guns for everybody and no reproductive rights. Twisted. Twisted.

The U.S. Supreme Court made it easier to own a gun, gave cops the ability to not read Miranda Rights, gave religious schools public funding, and overturned Roe v Wade after 50 years of precedence. Welcome to conservative America. Never vote Republican again.

So, the U.S. Supreme Court has:
Made it easier to own a gun.
Gave cops the ability to not read Miranda Rights.
Gave religious schools public funding
Overturned Roe v Wade after 50 years of precedence.
This is Christian Nationalism. This must stop.— blair channing rae (@iWriterGirl) June 24, 2022
If you own a Glock, you have more rights than if you own a uterus.
