Sabres' Jeff Skinner out 3-4 weeks with upper-body injury

Buffalo Sabres forward Jeff Skinner will miss the next 3-4 weeks with an upper-body injury, the team announced Saturday.

Skinner suffered the injury during Friday’s loss to the Boston Bruins, after colliding with forward David Pastrnak during the third period of Buffalo’s 3-0 loss.

The 27-year-old is struggling this season, relative to his own standards, posting 11 goals and 19 points in 39 games. Skinner posted a career-best 40 goals and 63 points during the 2018-19 season.

It’s a tough loss for a Sabres team that is already without Johan Larsson, Tage Thompson and Vladimir Sobotka due to injuries. Buffalo is beginning to trend downwards in the hotly contested Atlantic Division and Skinner’s injury has prompted some to believe that the club will need to make a move to keep the club afloat in the playoff race.

There might be some hostilities Sunday, as the Sabres square off against the Bruins again.
