We don't know about you but ever since leaving the cinema from seeing Barbie, we have been playing 'I'm Just Ken' on repeat. Seriously, our Alexas must be getting tired of us requesting Ryan Gosling's emotional number from the film.

The three and a half minute song, which essentially acts as a monologue to sum up Ken's feelings throughout the film, is an absolute banger and available to stream on Spotify now. But before we head in for another re-listen (sorry, can't help it), we really need to know if it was actually Ryan singing those emotional lyrics. Because surely he has the Kenergy to pull it off?

So, is Ryan Gosling really singing on the Barbie soundtrack?

Yes that is 100 per cent Ryan Gosling's voice you're hearing during 'I'm Just Ken'.

Mark Ronson, who worked on the movie's epic soundtrack, revealed not only is it Ryan singing in the film, but Ryan volunteered to sing the movie's iconic track. Mark had written 'I'm Just Ken' without knowing if Ryan would actually agree to singing it.

However, he didn't need to worry as Ryan heard it and really liked it, and agreed to fly over to London to record 'I'm Just Ken'.

Speaking to Vanity Fair, Mark said of Ryan's singing ability: "He really got [that] it had to walk this line of not being funny or parody. But obviously, the song is also kind of ridiculous at times. So he was really amazing, and when he really did start hitting the big notes, I was like, this dude is a vocal powerhouse!”

Can Ryan Gosling sing?

In case 'I'm Just Ken' wasn't enough to prove Ryan's vocal ability, Ryan actually has a pretty decent musical history.

In 2007 Ryan created the band Dead Man's Bones with his friend Zach Shields, and the pair performed for a few years together.

He also sung 'City of Stars' and 'A Lovely Night' in the musical La La Land, alongside Emma Stone.

And as well as 'I'm Just Ken' in the Barbie film, Ryan also lent his vocals to the cover of Matchbox Twenty's 'Push', which he sings with the rest of the Kens on the beach.

So there you have it, Ryan Gosling can sing. Now, where is his Oscar for Best Original Song?
