Running has given me the confidence that I can do anything if I am determined and work hard. I started running later in life, and what was initially a hobby to share with my daughters, truly became my passion. I wanted to run a marathon, just to say that I did. But after I finished that first one (Wineglass Marathon, Corning, NY) I had a more lofty goal–I wanted to run Boston. It took me two and a half years and three attempts, but I finally got that BQ time. The most satisfying part of my quest for a BQ was being a role model for my daughters and showing them firsthand that it’s okay to fail. Failure is part of a successful journey.

RW+ is an incredible resource for running advice and the RW magazines always inspire me.

Running gives me the balance I need in my life. After a tough day at work, getting out for a run frees my mind and body from stress. But the best part of running is being part of a great running community. The support and friendships from my local run club members are the absolute best.

I am so incredibly blessed to have a gorgeous running path right in my hometown–the Blackstone Valley Bikeway. Set along the Blackstone River, the path crosses the river many times, offering views of waterfalls, marshes and wildlife. Many old mills line the river too, evidence of the impact of the Industrial Revolution that earned the Blackstone the title of “the hardest working river in America”. The Blackstone Valley bike path is my second home.

My favorite is my Nike Dri Fit running skirt.

I grew up in Florida (Go Gators!) but have truly become a full-fledged New Englander, even preferring winter training runs.

To PR in my first Boston Marathon with a sub 4-hour time.
