Leave it to a Polish prince to take the perfect photo of British royal newlyweds, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Fashion photographer and Polish royal, Alexi Lubomirski was hired to photograph both the engagement and wedding portraits for the newly named Duke and Duchess of Sussex earlier this month.
During an interview with the BBC, Lubomirski detailed how he captured the intimate photo of the “exhausted” newlyweds sitting laughing on the East Terrace of Windsor Castle. Lubomirksi said the photo was taken just three and a half minutes after the couple finished their ceremony and procession.
“It was just one of those magical moments when you’re a photographer and everything falls into place. I said ‘just before you go in, sit on those stairs,'” Lubomirksi revealed. “And she just slumped in-between his legs and there was this moment where they were just laughing because they were exhausted and thinking finally it’s all over. It was one of these beautiful moments.”
Despite sticking to a tight schedule, the photographer says he didn’t want the photos with the bridal party to look too “regimented and linear.”
“In terms of how were were placing people – we wanted some people sitting, some people standing, kids on parents laps and that was a huge thing to get that realness out of it,” Lubomirski said.
The results were images that capture the regal nature of the wedding, as well as the warmth and love of the royal couple.
