Meghan Markle's Makeup Artist, Daniel Martin, Might Just Be 1 of Archie's Secret Royal Godparents

Ever since Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced that they weren't going to reveal baby Archie's godparents' names at the 2-month-old's christening ceremony last week, but would be choosing “close and old friends,” the speculation about who they'd pick has been at a fever pitch.

Now, it seems there's at least one frontrunner. Here, we’ve rounded up a list of the best godparent contenders for Baby Sussex.

Daniel Martin

Markle's makeup artist has a frontrunner on the godparent front ever since he posted pics from London around the time of royal baby Archie's christening on July 6, according to Page Six.The duchess's personal MUA shared pictures from tea at Harrod's and the Ivy Hotel in London recently to his Instagram Stories and also happens to be a longtime friend.

Princess Eugenie

Not only is she Prince Harry’s first cousin, but she also runs in the same circle as the duke and duchess. When in doubt, choose a royal.

Serena Williams

The professional tennis player is a prime candidate for the job, considering she’s a longtime acquaintance of Markle’s. The pair first met at the Super Bowl in 2010 and immediately became friends. Williams attended the royal wedding with her husband, Alexis Ohanian, and even footed the $200,000 bill for Markle’s New York City baby shower. NBD.

Benita Litt

Litt is one of the duchess’s oldest friends. Markle is a godmother to both of her children, Remi and Rylan, whom you may recognize as bridesmaids from the royal wedding. Why not return the favor?

Jessica & Ben Mulroney

One of the most obvious choices is Markle’s best friend, Jessica, along with her husband, Ben. You may recognize them from the royal nuptials, considering their three children—Ivy (5) and 8-year-old twin boys John and Brian—were included in the wedding party.

Jessica and Ben also accompanied the newlyweds on their royal tour of Australia.

Prince William & Kate Middleton

Sure, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge might seem like a no-brainer, but royal protocol says otherwise.

Not only is it extremely rare for royals to pick their siblings, but Prince Harry and Markle weren’t chosen to be godparents for the couple’s three children, Prince George (5), Princess Charlotte (3) and Prince Louis (10 months). But hey, we’re not ruling it out.

Priyanka Chopra

The Quantico star met Markle back in 2016 at the Elle Women in Television dinner. Since they’ve remained close friends, we wouldn’t be surprised if the Suits alum made Chopra a permanent part of the baby’s life.

George & Amal Clooney

OK, hear us out. George and Amal might not seem like they’re super-duper close with the royals, but rumors have been swirling for months about the possibility of Prince Harry and Markle anointing the Clooneys. (Amal even attended the duchess’s baby shower in New York City.)

Although George laughed at the idea during an interview with Who magazine, we can’t deny that the couple has serious godparent potential.
