From Town & Country

This morning it was announced that Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, had passed away at the age of 99. Over the course of his 73-year marriage to the Queen, (they would have celebrated their 74th anniversary this November), he became the longest-serving consort in British history whom Her Majesty referred to as "a constant strength and guide." He leaves behind four children, eight grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren (as well as Harry and Meghan's next baby Sussex who is expected to be born later this year.)

The news of Philip's passing was announced through Buckingham Palace, who shared a statement on behalf of the royal family. "It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen announces the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle. Further announcements will be made in due course." They added, "The Royal Family join with people around the world in mourning his loss."

Since then, there has naturally been an outpouring of responses from around the world, including messages of condolence from many of the royal houses of Europe as well as world leaders throughout the Commonwealth and across the globe.

At this time, it is not anticipated that the senior members of the royal family like William and Kate Middleton or Harry and Meghan will make individual statements on Philip's death, but we will continue to update this post as new information becomes available.
