This confirms polling conducted in 1996 by the Freedom Forum and the New York Times’ John Tierney in 2008. In the 2016 presidential election, 96% of people identified in federal campaign finance filings as journalists, reporters, or news editors donating to presidential campaigns donated to Clinton (Center for Public Integrity, U.S. News & World Report). In the Summer of 2017 Media Research Center analysts determined that President Trump had received twice the press coverage as President Obama, and 91% of the media coverage had been negative.
