We guess nobody told ABC that if you love something, you should let it go.
The Roseanne spin-off was just given the green light by the network for a ten-episode series titled The Conners. The new show will follow Dan (John Goodman), Jackie (Laurie Metcalf), Darlene (Sara Gilbert), Becky (Lecy Goranson) and DJ (Michael Fishman) after a “sudden turn of events,” most likely the death of main character Roseanne Barr.
According to ABC, “Barr will have no financial or creative involvement in the new series,” although the writing-producing team will remain the same. The Conners will premiere this fall and take over the Tuesday 8 p.m. time slot that Roseanne formerly occupied.
ABC said that through “the fights, the coupon cutting, the hand-me-downs, the breakdowns–with love, humor and perseverance, the family prevails,” while describing what the Conners will face in Langford after the not-so-mysterious “sudden turn of events.”
Hey, at least fall is prime time for donning our Dan-inspired flannels (while drinking garage beers, of course).
