Rose Hanbury, the Marchioness of Cholmondeley, and her husband David Rocksavage, the 7th Marquess of Cholmondeley, are no strangers to the extravagant. Their home, Houghton Hall, not only has 106 rooms, and millions of dollars worth of art and antiques inside, but it’s an art and historical museum open to the public in Norfolk, England. And now, there are 100 naked statues around the property?

Don’t worry; there’s a legit reason behind it.

As we said, Houghton Hall is a historical and art museum, and now it’s home to 100 naked statues that are a part of Sir Antony Gormley’s exhibition Time Horizon.

On April 12, Houghton Hall shared the new exhibit to their Instagram page with the caption reading, “Presenting one hundred life-size cast iron figures over 300 acres, Antony Gormley’s ‘Time Horizon’ opens next week at Houghton Hall, Norfolk.” They added that, “Each sculpture is positioned at the same datum level, creating a single horizon. Some are buried up to their waist or neck, while others stand on the ground or above it on a plinth. Gormley estimates that it will take the average visitor two to three hours to walk around the entire work. Plan your visit via the link in our bio. On view from 21 April—31 October 2024.”

So from April 22 to Oct 31, you can see this exhibit at Houghton Hall for £22, and while many are excited for it, Hanbury and Rocksavage have opinions on the matter. While Hanbury has remained quiet about her feelings on the new exhibit, and Rocksavage revealed his hesitancy.

Per the Sun, he revealed that while he’s “slightly apprehensive” about the display, he’s excited to have it available for Houghton Hall “We have this wonderful park and it’s ideal for sculpture. We are excited to have the opportunity to show this large-scale work by Antony Gormley for the first time in the UK. The 100 life-size sculptures will cover a much larger area than our previous shows, allowing visitors to experience more of the historic landscape surrounding the house.”
