Rose Byrne Says She and Tiffany Haddish Got Drunk at a Bar Together the First Time They Met

Rose Byrne is opening up about the first time she met Tiffany Haddish (and how the experience convinced her they should do a movie together).

On Tuesday, PureWow caught up with the Bridesmaids actress on the red carpet of the New York premiere for her new movie Like A Boss. During the event, the 40-year-old actress revealed that her first encounter with Haddish involved...some drinking.

“I met Tiffany early on and we got drunk at a bar,” Byrne said. “And I was like ‘I really would love to do the movie’ and she said ‘I’d love you to do it.’ It was awesome and we really hit it off.”

Byrne also opened up about what it was like working with the cast, which features Salma Hayek, Billy Porter and Jennifer Coolidge. According to Byrne, filming included a lot of laughs and a weekly potluck at Haddish’s home.

“It was fun—really fun. A lot of different personalities and laughs,” she said. “She [Haddish] would just cook up a meal and we would all come over and you know, just drink and hang out. I don’t cook. I just went and bought like a pecan pie.”

The movie centers on Mia (Haddish) and Mel (Byrne), two budding cosmetics entrepreneurs and BFFs. While running their makeup business together, the two lifelong friends fall into the classic start-up conundrum: They’ve burned through all their funding.  After realizing they’re $493,000 in debt, the two seek out the help of Claire Luna (Hayek), an idea-stealing makeup mogul.

So, how do we get the invite to the next GNO or potluck? Asking for a friend.
