Following are road construction projects scheduled for this week in Monroe County:

Ash Township

Port Creek Road between Carter Road and Newburg Road

CN (Canadian National) Railroad will close the railroad crossing on Port Creek Road between Carter Road and Newburg Road on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 until Wednesday, May 18, 2022 for track maintenance. Detour route posted will use Carter Road to Briar Hill Road to Newburg Road. Please allow extra time when travelling in this area. All work is weather permitting.

Bedford Township

Secor Road between Consear Road and Erie Road

South County Water System will be installing new water main along Secor Road between

Consear Road and Erie Road. Traffic regulators will be used to maintain one-lane, two-way traffic when work is being performed. Secor Road is closed to through traffic except local residents, business and school buses. Detour route includes Erie Road, Douglas Road and Samaria Road.

Exeter Township

Colf Road between Rawsonville Road and Timbers Road

Colf Road is scheduled to be closed to through traffic between Rawsonville Road and Timbers Road next week for removal and replacement of drainage cross tile under Colf Road. No detour route will be posted due to low traffic volume. All work is weather permitting.

Frenchtown Township

Sandy Creek Road between Spaulding Road and Yax Road

NS (Norfolk Southern) Railroad is tentatively scheduled to close the railroad crossing on Sandy Creek Road between Spaulding Road and Yax Road for a few hours on Monday, May 16, 2022 for track maintenance. No detour route will be posted due to low traffic volume. Please allow extra time when travelling in this area. All work is weather permitting.

London Township

Ostrander Road between Muehleisen Road and Yensch Road

Ostrander Road is scheduled to be closed to through traffic between Muehleisen Road and Yensch Road next week for removal and replacement of drainage cross tile under Ostrander Road. No detour route will be posted due to low traffic volume. All work is weather permitting.

City of Monroe

Village Green Lane reconstruction - Noble Ave. to Lorain St.

G.V. Cement Contracting of Brownstown Township is the City’s contractor for roadway paving work. This project involves the complete removal and replacement of all roadway pavement and driveway approaches, and replacement with new 8” concrete and curbs. Throughout the project, one-way northbound traffic will be maintained, and all driveways will be maintained. The contractor has completed mainline paving except gaps at driveways, and for the coming week concrete will be curing and the road will remain one-way. Remaining work on gaps and drives is planned for the week of May 23.

S. Roessler St. reconstruction - Fifth St. to dead end

G.V. Cement has completed all work except placement of new concrete at the northeast quadrant of Fifth / Roessler, which should be completed during the coming week. The roadway is open to traffic.

E. Second St. reconstruction - Macomb St. to Scott St.

G.V. Cement will be reconstructing this block with new 8” concrete, including curbs and driveway approaches. During construction, this roadway will be closed entirely to all traffic. The south half of the roadway is completed, and for the coming week, the contractor will begin pavement removals and likely placement of new concrete on the north half of the roadway.

W. Lorain St. reconstruction - Telegraph Rd. to Huber St.

G.V. Cement is reconstructing the existing pavement with new 8” concrete, including curbs and driveway approaches, and portions of the road will be narrowed from 36 feet to 26 feet. During construction, eastbound traffic will be maintained, though motorists should expect occasional closures of the entire road. The south half of the roadway is largely complete, and for the coming week, G.V. Cement plans to remove existing and place new concrete on the north half of the roadway.

E. Grove St. reconstruction - Macomb St. to dead end

G.V. Cement will be reconstructing this block with new 8” concrete, including curbs and driveway approaches. During construction, this roadway will be closed entirely to all traffic. For the coming week, the contractor will place new concrete on the north half of the roadway.

E. Elm Ave. and N. Dixie Hwy. microsurfacing

Pavement Maintenance Systems LLC will be performing a microsurfacing project on Elm Avenue from Monroe to Macomb and North Dixie Highway from Elm to Spaulding. This work will only last 2-3 days, and will restrict traffic with flaggers on both roadways during the work. The contractor plans to perform this work starting Tuesday, May 17.

E. Lorain St. reconstruction - Hollywood Dr. to Arbor Ave.

G.V. Cement will be reconstructing this roadway with new 8” concrete, including curbs and driveway approaches. During construction, this roadway will be closed entirely to all traffic. The contractor tentatively plans to begin work during the coming week, depending on progress on other locations.

Monroe Township

Dartmoor/Ravenwood/Teakwood Subdivision off M-125

Construction work will continue next week in Dartmoor/Ravenwood/Teakwood Subdivision off M-125 in preparation for hot mix asphalt resurfacing. Traffic regulators will be used to maintain local access. All work is weather permitting

Summerfield Township

The county-wide tree removal contractor (Alpine Tree Service) will be performing tree removals and tree trimming at various locations listed above. The road(s) may be closed to thru traffic during daylight hours with no detour(s) posted due to the short term duration of the work and the low traffic volumes. All work is weather permitting.
