Twenty-year-old rising rapper Pop Smoke (born Bashar Jackson) was reportedly shot and killed in a home invasion this morning.

According to TMZ, the rapper was shot at a house in the Hollywood Hills at around 4:30 AM when two men wearing hoodies and masks broke into a house. "According to law enforcement...We're told the 2 men fired multiple shots, striking and critically wounding Pop Smoke. The men were seen fleeing on foot," writes TMZ.

Jackson was then rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in West Hollywood, but was later pronounced dead. Police are yet to release any information about the suspects.

The Brooklyn-born drill rapper began to make a name for himself after releasing Welcome to the Party in May 2019, which racked up over 23 million views on YouTube. His most recent song, MeetTheWooVol2 debuted at number seven on the Billboard 200 this week.

Jackson was scheduled to perform two sold out shows at the O2 Kentish Town, London, in April, and has been remixed by British rapper Skepta as well as American hip-hop star Nicki Minaj. He was also set to perform at London's Wireless Festival in July alongside Young Thug and A$AP Rocky.
