Wet riding is not most mountain bikers' first choice in terms of conditions. It can be frustratingly slick, dirty, and an operational nightmare for gear. However, for some riders, the wet and mud is a way of life and the argument can be made that super-saturated wet riding is just as fun as the best dirt days.

Here is some compelling evidence that riding in the wet can arguably be better than normal, conventionally good conditions.

Second, it's great for bike handling to ride something other than perfect condition dirt. The best way to get better for the good days is to learn how to ride on the bad days.

And finally, just go get dirty, and be a kid again. Gear can be washed, bikes can be cleaned, and bodies can be showered. Go out and play in the mud.
