If you’ve been paying attention to what’s going on in hip-hop, you know women are taking over. And the Rico Nasty x Il Makiage line, which hit shelves on Sep. 10, is just another testament to women in music doing the darn thing.
As a Gen-Z rapper, Rico Nasty has already impacted the music industry with her “sugar trap” sound. After having several songs go viral on TikTok — including “Smack a B*tch” and her ‘Tia Tamera” collaboration with Doja Cat — Rico Nasty is making her mark. And now the Rico Nasty x Il Makiage line has the artist taking on the beauty industry.
As far as design goes, Rico had full reign of the five-piece line, which includes a neutral eyeshadow palette, a bright pigmented palette, two eye pencils, an eyeshadow brush and a collection bundle. In an Instagram post, she explained that the project took a year to make.
“We spent a looonnggg assss time, not gonna lie, swatching dozens of shades, perfecting these pigments, figuring out the formulas and designing a whole bunch of themes together,” she said.
Shop: Rico Nasty x Il Makiage Lowfi palette, $52
The larger of the two palettes is dubbed the Lowfi palette. The 12-shade palette designed for everyday wear features four rich, neutral matte shades and eight shimmers. The smaller of the two palettes, named Neon Rage, is the polar opposite of Lowfi.

The six-shade pressed pigment palette features holographic, neon matte and metallic shades selected by Rico herself. Plus, the waterproof formula is crease and smudge-proof. While the shadows apply like a cream, they have a powdery finish.
Rico designed the imprint in the palettes in the shape of a lifeline “because that’s what makeup is,” according to the rapper. “You don’t feel alive until you have your sh*t done.”
Shop: Shade And Blend Eyeshadow Brush, $22
In addition to the eyeshadow palettes, there’s one double-sided synthetic eyeshadow brush featured in the collection with the Rico Nasty branding on the side. The oval side of the brush is ideal for blending and mixing shades while the flatter side is made for packing on pigment.
Shop: Long-Wear Eye Pencil, $22
To top off the line, there are two graphic eye pencils in the shades Black Lambo and Matte-White Hellcat. Either use them in your waterline to make your eyes pop, or get Euphoria-inspired and outline your natural eye shape.
