Rice Krispies Treats Are Getting a Makeover, and They Look Tastier Than Ever
It’s already been a great couple of weeks for cereal fans everywhere—we found out that we’ve got Strawberry Rice Krispies, Banana Crème Frosted Flakes, and Hostess Donettes cereal to look forward to in 2019, and chocolatey Lucky Charms to tide us over until then. And the announcements about new sweet cereal treats aren’t over yet. Kellogg’s just announced a new cereal dessert that we can’t wait to try: Rice Krispies Treats Snap Crackle Poppers.
As if Rice Krispies Treats weren’t addictive enough already, the new poppers are a smaller, bite-size version of the classic treat, with one tasty twist. Each mini Rice Krispies popper is covered in a creamy chocolate, vanilla crème, or cookies ‘n’ crème coating. In a press release, Kellogg’s described the treats as “ooey, chewy, bite-sized Rice Krispies Treats coated in a smooth, silky topping.”
If you can manage not to finish off the whole bag in one sitting, it looks like the new Snap Crackle Poppers will come in resealable bags, making them perfect for on-the-go snacking. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait a little longer to try them. The new Rice Krispies Treats won’t hit shelves nationwide until January 2019, but the New Year is just around the corner, so you’ll be able to pop these mini treats at snack time in a few weeks.
If you're fond of the sweet and savory combo, take note: Kellogg’s also announced a few salty snacks we can look forward to in 2019. A new twist on Pringles is also coming, Pringles Wavy, which they promise will deliver thicker chips with even more crunch and flavor. Also on the menu are Cheez-It Snap’d, a thinner and crispier version of Cheez-Its that will be available in their most popular flavors, including Double Cheese, Cheddar Sour Cream & Onion, and White Cheddar. It already looks like 2019 is going to be a great year for snacks!
