Three weeks after the unexpected passing of her newborn son, Real Housewives of Orange County’s Kara Keough is mourning the sudden loss of her father, Matt Keough. He was 64, and according to E! News, his cause of death is currently unknown.

Kara shared a tribute to her late father on Instagram, featuring a carousel of photos from her upbringing by his side. “Daddy, please take care of my son. Teach him the circle changeup and how to find forever friends,” she captioned the post. “You’re on grandpa duty in heaven now. Xoxo, Hammerhead.” Matt was a former Oakland Athletics pitcher and legend.

Family, fans, and Kara’s fellow housewives left their condolences, feeling for her tragic situation. “Kara, I am so sorry. There are no words to say, other than you are loved,” RHOC’s Vicki Gunvalson wrote. “Oh Kara. I’m so sorry big hugs,” Tamra Judge commented. Jo De La Rosa added, “I’m so incredibly sorry to hear about this Kara. Thinking of you guys and sending so much love your way. Here if you need anything.”

Others joined with their own sympathies. “Oh Kara!! So much heartache! I am so gutted for you,” one wrote. “Wishing for peace and healing and the good stuff. ❤️” Another added, “I’m so sorry for your loss. Thoughts and prayers are with you even more during this time. Little man needed his grandpa. 🖤”

On April 14, Kara shared the devastating news of her newborn son’s passing. “On April 6th, our son McCoy Casey Bosworth was born at 3:10am,” she wrote on Instagram. “Weighing in at 11 pounds and 4 ounces and spanning 21 inches, McCoy surprised us all with his size and strength (and overall perfection). During the course of his birth, he experienced shoulder dystocia and a compressed umbilical cord. He joined our Heavenly Father and will live forever in the hearts of his loving parents, his adoring sister, and those that received his life-saving gifts.”

Just five days before sharing her father’s death, Kara wrote a long, heartfelt post detailing continued grief for her son. “You would have been 3 weeks old today. You would be ‘waking up’ and showing us more of you,” she wrote. “I would be getting the hang of being a mom of two. My milk would be regulating to your schedule. Your sister would be asking questions about your belly button and you would have peed on her at least once by now. Daddy would be sending texts to his football buddies about how our giant baby boy could probably already out-lift them. We would be laughing that you never fit into newborn diapers, not even for one day. I’d be exhausted, leaking, and happy. Instead... we’re missing you.”

She concluded with, “To all my fellow ‘instead’ mamas.... thank you for reminding me that we’re not alone, and that we can survive this. He didn’t, but we have to. And we will.”
