Founded in 2013 by friends Matthew Scanlan and Diederik Rijsemus, Naadam is a high-quality knitwear brand with shockingly affordable prices. Now you might be thinking, how can one (or in this case, two) create luxury cashmere clothing without having it exceed the premium price point?

Naadam works with local herders to receive some of the world’s best cashmere straight from the Mongolian Gobi Desert. Working directly together without middlemen involved allows Naadam to pay herders 50% more and charge customers 50% less.

One of Naadam’s most popular affordable items is the Essential $75 Cashmere Sweater. Based on several reviews, the sweater feels like a high-end luxury piece without the high-end luxury price. People can’t seem to believe that they’re able to get a well-constructed garment for less than $100. But are the reviews as true as they say? Well, you’re about to find out.

Naadam sent out one of its $75 Cashmere Sweater to SPY for review. And we have plenty to say about it.

The Essential $75 Cashmere Sweater: The Review

I received the $75 cashmere sweater in a crew neck style and cement color. Before trying it on, I gave the garment a full inspection based on sight and touch. Upon my first glance, the sweater seems well-constructed and could honestly pass as a high-end fashion designer piece. Its fabric is “heavenly soft” like Naadam described, and it feels warm and cozy, perfect for a cold winter day.

As for sizing, I got the sweater in a small and just as described by the brand, it fits true to size. Being that I have a small frame, I was a little worried about the fit of the sweater because some pieces can end up fitting a bit large on me. But to my surprise, this cashmere sweater fit me well. It’s slim-fitting enough to not be baggy on me but loose enough to allow me to move freely and comfortably.

Now let’s get into the cashmere. If I wasn’t aware of the price for this sweater, I would’ve believed this was a $300 piece. This sweater is made from 100% Mongolian cashmere that is thick and soft. It feels absolutely luxurious on the skin and I honestly didn’t even want to take it off. Not to mention, the crewneck is lightweight and breathable, which is great for someone who tends to sweat easily.

Is It Worth It to Buy Naadam’s Higher Priced Sweaters?

I loved Naadam’s $75 cashmere sweater, but the brand offers several other sweaters that are just as stylish and comfortable as well. However, they’re priced a little higher. So I got to test out another option from Naadam to see just how it compares against the essential sweater and if it’s with the purchase?

Buy: Cashmere Waffle Crewneck Sweater $225.00

The sweater of choice I got to test is the waffle crewneck. To my surprise, this crewneck resembles the $75 essential sweater. It has the same comfort level, softness, and slim fit. The only noticeable difference is the waffle-knit design. Honestly, if I had been blindfolded and tried on both sweaters, I would say it’s the same garment. With that in mind, I think if you purchase the essential cashmere sweater, you don’t necessarily need the waffle crewneck. If you don’t care about the waffle knit design, then the more affordable cashmere sweater is undoubtedly the way to go.

The Verdict: You Should Buy the $75 Essential Cashmere Sweater

Naadam crafted a well-made cashmere sweater at an affordable price that both men and women can love. The sweater makes a great staple piece to have in your wardrobe, thanks to its sheer versatility and comfort. It comes in several colors that allow you to stock up, so you can keep them in rotation throughout the colder months. If you aren’t a fan of the crewneck style, they have v-neck sweaters as well.

So the next time you need knitwear, make Naadam your go-to brand and get yourself a luxury yet affordable $75 cashmere sweater.
