A year later, I can admit that I'm still not over the cancellation of Good Girls.

The hourlong comedy-drama featured Christina Hendricks, Mae Whitman, and Retta as three suburban women who, after facing financial pressure, turned to crime to maintain their lifestyles. It ran for four hilarious seasons before being canceled last summer.

Well, it turns out we were this close to having a fifth season.

Retta recently said on Live with Kelly and Ryan, "We were very close to a fifth season. But one person ruined it for all of the cast and crew and so it's not back."

While she did not name names, it was previously reported that the show was not renewed in part because of failed negotations with Manny Montana, who played crime boss Rio.

TVLine reported that Retta, Mae, and Christina had agreed to take a pay cut in order to do a fifth and final season, but production was ultimately "unable" to make it work, with one source citing "money and scheduling" conflicts with Manny.

Kelly Ripa wondered if they could have gotten rid of that person and replaced them, but Retta said it wasn't an option. "It was a little too close to when [the creative team] would have to start and figure out story," she said.

And so, with that, Good Girls got canceled. So far, Manny hasn't commented on any of this, but we'll let you know if there's an update!
