Report: Florida State QB Deondre Francois won't be charged after pot citation
Florida State quarterback Deondre Francois reportedly won’t face any charges after a misdemeanor marijuana citation.
According to the Tallahassee Democrat, Francois will enter a diversion program. FSU coach Willie Taggart issued a statement to the Democrat saying the team was aware of the situation and discipline was being handled internally.
Francois is currently rehabbing from a knee injury he suffered in the first game of the 2017 season. His injury in the loss to Alabama started a downward spiral for Florida State as the Seminoles went from a preseason top-five team to one that battled just to make a bowl game after head coach Jimbo Fisher left to head to Texas A&M.
James Blackman took over as the team’s starter in 2017 following Francois’ torn PCL. Blackman steadily improved as the season went on and is competing with Francois to be the team’s starting quarterback in 2018 in Taggart’s first season.
Francois was investigated for an alleged domestic violence incident earlier in 2018. The investigation ended quickly after both Francois and his girlfriend provided conflicting statements and didn’t cooperate with authorities.
