Report: Blue Jays first-rounder Jordan Groshans earns first promotion
With the Blue Jays highly-touted rookie trio of Ryan Borucki, Danny Jansen, and Sean Reid-Foley firing on all cylinders and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. raking at Triple-A, there hasn’t been much shine left for the rest of the club’s youngsters.
On Friday, there was a bit of encouraging news for one of the team’s other top prospects as 2018 first-round pick Jordan Groshans has reportedly earned a promotion just two months into his pro career.
BIG news for @BluefieldJays fans: Jordan Groshans, the organization’s first-round pick in 2018 will be on the Bluefield roster and dressed for tomorrow’s game vs. Elizabethton at 7:05 p.m.

Groshans hit .333/.394/.504 in 36 games with the Gulf Coast League Blue Jays with four home runs, while splitting his time between shortstop and third base. The 18-year-old currently ranks 8th among Blue Jays prospects according to MLB Pipeline.
While Groshans is a ways away from making a big-league impact, he’s already impressing with his bat— which looks to be his calling card going forward. It’s not wise to get too excited about small-sample stats in the low minors, but moving up a level this early in his pro career is undoubtedly a good sign for Groshans.
