We all remember Pamela Anderson’s iconic ensemble at the Video Music Awards in 1999. The Canadian-born actress and model wore a white button-up bustier, an oversized fuzzy pink hat and an incredible pair of sparkly pants for the occasion. She accented the funky look with black stilettos and bold glam, including lots of blue eyeshadow, heavy eyeliner and an overlined nude lip.
This Halloween, singer-songwriter Reneé Rapp recreated the look in one of the best takes we’ve seen on a Pamela Anderson look yet. The “Pretty Girls” singer completely nailed her interpretation, down to the barbed wire tattoo on her bicep. Rapp showed off her costume on Instagram on Oct. 30, where she also credited her glam team, including makeup artist Taylor Fitzgerald, hairstylist Dana Boyer and photographer Katia Temkin.
“it’s great to be a blonde,” Rapp captioned her carousel of pics, which included several original snapshots of Anderson at the late ’90s event. The 23-year-old referenced part of a famous quote attributed to the 56-year-old New York Times best-selling author: “It’s great to be a blonde. With low expectations it’s very easy to surprise people.”
“we as a society, we were not ready,” one of Rapp’s one million followers stated in the comments section.
“you just casually posted this with no warning,” someone else noted.
“Oh this is next level,” another user declared.
“Well call me Tommy,” someone else quipped, referencing Anderson’s former partner, Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee.
“pls m’am let me at least get my inhaler first,” an additional fan joked.
