Registration begins April 6 for YMCA's Summer Day Camp

MONROE — Registration begins Saturday for the Monroe Family YMCA’s Summer Day Camp program. Camp runs June 17 through Aug. 23 and is open to children entering kindergarten through eighth grade in the fall.

A camp information meeting and registration kickoff event is set for 10-11:30 a.m. April 6 at the Monroe Family YMCA, 1111 W. Elm Ave. Camp enrollment fees will be waived at the event.

"Day camp offers youth unique experiences with an opportunity to explore the outdoors, meet new friends, discover new interests and create memories that last a lifetime," the YMCA said in a news release. "Campers partake in diverse activities, including STEM, artistic expression, literacy, math, physically active games, social-emotional learning, swimming and field trips."

“YMCA Summer Camp supports the social-emotional growth, cognitive development and physical well-being of kids,” said Gabby Holland, child care and mental health services director for the Monroe Family YMCA. “In our day camp, kids are welcomed into an environment where they can belong, build relationships, develop character and discover their potential. I encourage parents to give their kids the gift of camp to keep their kids active and engaged throughout the summer.”
