Reese Witherspoon is basically America's sweetheart, and it's hard to imagine her getting into trouble with the law. But that's exactly what happened when her husband received a DUI in 2013. Rather than stand by and watch, Witherspoon attempted to defend him and was arrested for disorderly conduct. Even worse for the actress, video footage of her arrest leaked online, meaning that the entire world watched her get arrested.

In conversation with actress Jameela Jamil on the I Weigh podcast, Witherspoon discussed the 2013 arrest. Jamil told the Big Little Lies star, "You apologized and shamed yourself in a way that was so fucking refreshing to me."

Witherspoon replied, "But I did something really stupid... It was so embarrassing and dumb." She continued, "But you know what? Turns out, I breathe air. I bleed the same way. I make dumb decisions. I make great decisions. I’m just a human being."

Soon after the arrest, Witherspoon released a statement to Us Weekly and said, "I clearly had one drink too many and I am deeply embarrassed about the things I said... It was definitely a scary situation and I was frightened for my husband, but that is no excuse. I was disrespectful to the officer who was just doing his job. The words I used that night definitely do not reflect who I am. I have nothing but respect for the police and I’m very sorry for my behavior."
