Red Cross volunteers help Georgia families recover in severe weather aftermath
Georgia Red Cross volunteers got to work Thursday to provide emergency essential and emotional support for families in need following severe weather.
Severe weather made its way across North Georgia and metro Atlanta areas, creating widespread power outages, damaging trees, snapping power lines and damaging buildings.

Red Cross officials said they are working with Governor Brian Kemp, Georgia’s Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency and several other community partners to help community members recover after the storm.
The following are shelter locations for those who were significantly impacted by the storm:
First United Methodist Church: 1401 Maple Street, Griffin, GA 30224
Faith Baptist Church: 552 Hammett Road, LaGrange, GA 30241

Red Cross responders will continue to reach out to residents whose homes have been destroyed or severely damaged to assist with housing, food, distribution of emergency supplies, medical aid and mental health services.

Anyone needing emergency assistance from the Red Cross is asked to call 1-800-733-2767.
Officials reminded the community that blood donors are critical following the storm.
